KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.89 g, 12 h), Mesembria, circa 150-125. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩ[Σ] - AΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in inner left field, Corinthian helmet above MA; below throne, monogram. Karayotov 302 (O49/R137). Price 1082. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, good very fine.
